The Aging Phenomena

Hey! Someone sent me a mail which I thought was so true...So I just put it up for all of you to read:

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is whenwe're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions. How old are you?.... "I'm four and a half "....You're never 36 and a half....you're four and a half going on five!
That's the key. You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number. How old are you? "I'm gonna be 16." You could be 12, but you're gonna be 16.
And then the greatest day of your life happens....you become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony....you BECOME 21...YES!
But then you turn 30....ooohhh what happened there? Makes you sound like badmilk....He TURNED, we had to throw him out. There's no fun now.
What's wrong?? What changed?? You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40.....stay over there, it's all slipping away...
You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, you're PUSHING 40, you REACH 50.....and your dreams are gone.
Then you MAKE IT to 60.....you didn't think you'd make it!
So you BECOME 21, you TURN 30, you're PUSHING 40, you REACH 50, you MAKE IT to 60......then you build up so much speed you HIT 70!
After that, it's a day by day thing. After that, you HIT Wednesday.... You get into your 80's, you HIT lunch. You TURN 4:30, my grandmother won't even buy green bananas....it's an investment you know, and maybe a bad one.
And it doesn't end there....into the 90's you start going backwards.... I was JUST 92...Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again.... "I'm 100 and a half!"

This is a very unlikely post but I just wanted to update my blog!!!
Cheers and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Radhika...

Obviously this is not a common topic, but I decided to write about Radhika a.k.a. Radhii…
The first exchange: I remember this skinny girl with colored hair and all untidy enter class and my first reaction was: UMMM…yea that was my reaction!
I mean think of it…in a school like Modern High, who would expect a person like her?
I think she went and sat with Delzeen or something…don’t remember…
But I never really thought of being friends with her…I always thought she was weird :P (sorry Radhii!!)
And 7th grade ended and we came to 8th and there were some actually many controversies with these three girls including Radhii. I thought Radhii was wrong or was the cause of these fights. But, as time passed, I realized this was not true and I realized that I was wrong…
And then towards the end of 8th grade or beginning of 9th I suddenly started becoming good friends with her…and I realized: Hey! She’s a really nice girl!
And then things changed…I realized that she was completely the opposite of what I thought…and trust me, I have never met a person with as much patience as her…
She’s soo nice that at times I wonder-how can someone be soo nice?
I am NOT exaggerating…at the same time she is so caring and tolerant and forgiving.
We have had our differences and stuff but still I can’t help saying that she is one of the best people in class.
She is a bit too carefree. But, who cares? She’s still amazing!

P.S. Thanx Radhii for all those jolly rancher candies and for everything…luvv yahh!!

Strangeness...

I am sitting in my room. Looking around. Don’t have anything to do.
At times, life seems to be so perfect. But, the next minute, you feel like it sucks. And that’s exactly what’s happening to me right now. I have this sudden urge to be a bird and fly freely.
I want to talk to someone-about something, anything, and everything…
I don’t know what I want to do…I’m confused…I feel dull and sick…like a person in his sick-bed…
Reason for all this: NOTHING…
Hmmm…Now, I don’t know why I wrote all this…I just needed the things in my mind to come out and that’s exactly what I have done…
Tell me, is it just me or do you guys feel the same at times?
I guess its just pure boredom or maybe I’m irritated with some people’s behavior in class today…why do people take out someone else’s anger on others?
Why are some people so weird?
And why am I so confused?
HELP!!!!!

Christmas...

Christmas is approaching and everyone seems to be busy putting up Christmas trees, shopping for friends, relatives etc, lighting up homes and so on...
But, over the years, we have forgotten the real meaning of Christmas..
Since about 400 AD, Christians have celebrated the birth of Jesus. 'Christ' means 'Messiah' or 'Anointed One' - the title given to Jesus - and 'Mass' was a religious festival.
The real origin of Christmas is found in the Christian Bible. It is told in two different books: Matthew and Luke chapters 1 and 2.
These chapters tell how Jesus was born as a baby to Mary. This was no ordinary birth! She was not married, she was a virgin, and an angel had told her she would bear a special baby. Her husband-to-be, Joseph, did not believe her at first. Who would? Then an angel told him in a dream that it was true! Probably no one else believed it. So when they had to travel from their home in Nazareth to Bethlehem (near Jerusalem), to register their names with the ruling Roman government, they probably escaped many hard words from other people.
Arrival in Bethlehem brought worry and upset: there was no room for them to stay at the hotel. There was only space in the stable - the animal house for travellers' donkeys and horses.
Jesus was born that night, and as they had no bed for him, they used an animal feeding box filled with the dry grass the animals ate.
Christmas cards and pictures today make it all seem very nice. In truth, it must have been dirty and frightening for a young couple, far from their home and families. Possibly the birth was premature after the stress of the journey. This was a very poor place for Jesus to start his life on earth.
Christians believe that it was exactly God's plan that things happened this way. They say that it shows that Jesus came as a humble, poor person and not as a strong, rich king. They also claim that the birth of Jesus was told many years before in the books of the prophets.
At that time, sheep farmers were seen by other people as low and of no value. Yet it was to these shepherds that the birth of Jesus was first announced in an amazing dramatic way:
"That night there were some men looking after sheep in the fields nearby. Suddenly they saw a great light. It was an angel, who said, 'Don't be afraid. I have good news for you, and for all people. Someone great has been born today. He is Christ, the great King you have been waiting for. He will save you from all that is wrong and evil. You will find him dressed in baby clothes, lying on a bed of dry grass.'
After Jesus was born, wise men came to look for Him, from an area which is now in either Iran or Saudi Arabia. Although they are often called the "Three Kings", the Bible does not say how many there were, or that they were kings. Three is only a guess because they brought with them three gifts.
They were certainly men of learning - probably today we would call them philosophers or scientists. They had seen an unusual new star in the sky, and knew that it told of the birth of a special king. (The star they saw was probably an exploding "supernova" and is known from astronomical records.) They followed the direction of the star- East - and eventually found the place where Mary, Joseph and Jesus were staying. To bring honour to the child, they brought rich gifts: gold, frankincense (a resin which burns with a beautiful smell), and myrrh (plant oil with a very strong sweet smell). These gifts tell us in pictures three key things about Jesus:
Gold: a gift fit for a King
Frankincense: burnt in worship of God
Myrrh: a sign of mortal human-ness - it was used to bury the dead
Herod, the evil king of the area, heard about the child, saw Him as a threat, and sent soldiers to kill Jesus. But God told Joseph in a dream to take Mary and the baby and escape to Egypt. They lived there till King Herod died and then went back to live in Nazareth. We read nothing more about the life of Jesus, except for one story when he was 12, until He reached 30.
And then...the story goes on about his execution...
But, it is amazing that we celebrate Christmas every year without even knowing the real reason behind it!!

Anyways..Have a great Christmas and spread the story!!

P.S. I read this information on the site and have just tried to tell you the story in short..if you want to know more, you can always read the Bible or search the web...

Movie Recommendation

A few days back, I saw this movie called Water...Its a beautiful movie and an eye-opener...
During the 1930's, India was ruled by the British and it was around this time that M.K.Gandhi had arrived from Africa to begin his tryst with the Britsh. He alse wanted to fight against the age-old traditions of the Hindu's.
Not yet in her teens, Chuyia is married to a much older and sickly male, who shortly after the marriage, passes away. Chuyia is returned to her parents' house, and from there she is taken to the holy city of Banaras and left in the care of a wide assortment of widows who live at "the widows' house," shunned by the rest of the community. Chuyia believes that her mother will come to take her home. Here she meets several elderly women, including the head of the house, Madhumati; a quiet, confident woman named Shakuntala; and a gorgeous young woman named Kalyani -- all widows. Chuyia does not know that according to Holy Hindu Scriptures she has been destined to live here for the rest of her life, for when a woman's husband dies', she has three options: One, to marry her husband's younger brother, if his family permits; two, to kill herself on his funeral pyre; three, to live a life of celibacy, discipline, and solitude amongst her own kind. It is against this tradition that Gandhiji goes against his very own people.
One day, Kalyani meets and falls in love with young Narayan, a follower of Mahatma Gandhi, who wants to marry her, despite his mother's protests. But on the day he comes to take her to his home, as they are crossing the river to his family estate, Kalyani recognizes the house, the very same house she had been forced to visit as a "prostitute," to be with Narayan's father. The question remains, can Kalyani marry the man she loves? Will he want to marry her when he knows what has passed between her and his father? And is Chuyia really destined to live the rest of her life as a widow among shunned widows?

Director: Deepa Mehta
Chuiya: Sarala
Kalyani: Lisa Ray
Narayan: John Abraham
Shakuntala: Seema Biswas

Ekta Kapoor..

Its been really long since I posted a new comment...Sorry about that..
Ok..How many of us have not seen even a single episode or a small part of the Indian T.V. serials? I think everyone has..
To be precise, my main topic of this post is the Queen of Indian Soaps-Ekta Kapoor!
Yes its the same lady who makes all other women cry their eyes out.
Late into her teens, she was only known as Jeetendra's daughter. Today, she has her own identity - as Ekta Kapoor, the creative head of Balaji Telefilms. She started off when she was just 17. Since then, she has worked, eaten and slept only television - thinking of concepts, casting, styling, selecting technicians, shooting and scheduling, marketing and acquiring the new skills required to succeed. She has definately become a great role model for many women.
But, coming back to her serials:
The K factor: Ekta Kapoor has been obsessed with the letter K ( Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kasauti Zindagi Kay, Kkusum, Kavyanjali and so on). I read an article which said that even for selecting the characters in her serials, she asks for their 'Kundali'??
wow!! now thats the limit...
Another standard feature now is the 20-year-jump, where the characters and surroundings are twenty years older, the effects of ageing being shown by white dye in strands in the hair of the women of the family, and not-so-subtle hints of grey around the gentlemen’s moustaches and sideburns.
Another slightly unreal aspect of the Indian serial is the “face-change operation”. A typical scenario is one wherein an accident happens to one of the characters, with him/her waking up in hospital with a new face, one that is most often the result of the another enemy with an evil plastic surgeon who creates an entirely new face for the hapless hero(ine). The character loses his/her memory, which is taken advantage of by the enemy and this, along with the 20-year-jump, helps create scenarios such as a missing darling son of the family now being one “converted” to one of the enemy camp.
Dialogue in Indian serials, in addition to being largely melodramatic and filled with historical and religious references, is widely thought lacking as far as dialogue goes. If seen very carefully, one would notice that there is, in fact, little or no conversation that takes place during the 30-odd minutes of a typical Indian soap opera’s episode. Actors’ lines in scenes are often delivered in one large speech (even longer in scenes of “conflict” between the enemy and the main character), there are often dance scenes based on the mood of the story-line and features elaborate sound effects, which are actually repeated in different serials which are under the same banner.
For example, female villains often enter the room with screeching cat noises being played in the background. This was keeping in with the effect her heavy makeup, thick, bristly fake eyelashes, and garish contact lenses.
Male enemies that are young often have Indianised strains of rather obscure hip-hop songs working for them in the background, and those that are older often have kettle drums booming in the background.
The camera often spins wildly from character to character during scenes in which shocking news is revealed, shaking vigorously when a character faints, and showing the same slap hitting the same cheek thrice.
Oh!! And one more thing..they use the same house as a hotel, a pub or disco, a restaraunt and as their own house obviously!
But all said and done..If you actually go to see, Indian soaps are most widely watched and they are the best time-pass for the oldies..I couldn't really think of more advantages..
And if you are ever feeling blue..Im sure by now you know what to do! Just watch one of Ekta's serials and you'll have a good laugh!
Take Care...

And for all those having their exams..Best Of Luck!!

Creating Awareness...

Its my first article that I am writing so forgive me if i say anything i shouldnt have.
I was just surfing the site and searching for some information on HIV/AIDS and Cancer and its connection with todays generation. As I was reading various articles and comments, I realized that the present generation is very ignorant on this matter. People just think that all this cannot happen with them or their family. These were the lines quoted by someone I know "Who cares..Dude, im safe n yea why worry about something that cant happen here in Dubai! Havnt even heard of one such case here?!?"
Well thats because you dont read the newspaper silly!
I don't think that kids are aware of stuff like this much anymore because no one ever talks about it until something terrible happens. When someone they love or know gets AIDS or HIV or Cancer then they want to jump in and get interested but until then they act like it couldn't happen. Their parents tell them that it could never happen to them and that they were raised better than that. I've seen kids with the best of morals and ethics that have turned up with some kind of STD, AIDS, or HIV diagnosis and then they get serious.
So why not create awareness about this now?
I think that instead of just discussing it amongst ourselves(because obviously we all know the facts), we should tell as many people as possible. Put it in the newspaper, ask your schools to put of flyers and posters, tell people. Raise money to help expand awareness, come up with some ideas, speak to well-known people and ask them to spread the word(because in today's world, we try to do everything that the famous people do..then who cares if its dressing up like angelina jolie or talkin like amitabh bachchan!)
My school, did spread fliers trying to create an awareness on Breast Cancer and frankly speaking, although some kids just threw them away, there were many who read it and im sure it did create an awareness atleast among a few people. Do things, and dont think that no one would ever read it...I know many kids who try to act cool and stuff in front of their freinds, make aeroplanes of these fliers and throw them around, but before doing so, they DO READ these fliers..So dont sit idle..Wake up and help spread the word!
Cheers!
